(no, cheese is not being sold for under a dollar...sorry
(and no, they did not invent cheese-scented pencils...really sorry
No, instead...we expanding our services from just providing stock and constructive critisism to more...hands-on...services! It has come to my attention (and believe me, little does...
Another thing that I've come across is how difficult it is to find that 'perfect pose'. I had this problem in particular in my Decliche and Surreal It Entry - Abyss
The idea was to use the required stock image - in this case, the woman's head - in an un-cliche (unusual) way. So, I took the original portrait photo and added a body
SO, I have decided to offer a few services that may be of some use to photomanipulators and artists alike!
-Background Removal: Removal of dark/fairly-dark backgrounds on fire, lightning and any other sort of effect that torment manipulators so much. I can also do various touchups to said flames/lightning, such as removing buildings, telephone wires and people to give you a clean, transparent image. Such examples of my work in this area are the Transparent Flames Packs with the help of *MD-Arts (thanks Matt!!)
-Model Stitching: For cases where you cannot find a specific model for your manip, I will offer a 'stitching' service. This will entail cropping and - in a sense - splicing... multiple stock models into a requested figure. I would request that the models be pre-cropped, but if not I can deal with that. I will also do this for free for one model at a time - if you want more than one stitched I would appreciate some points or gifts or something in exchange.
Earnings will be used for prizes, donations or anything else I see fit - not for my personal pleasure. I am doing this as non-profit - as things should be... As they say, the best things in life are free
Note me or comment on this journal (Notes preferably) if you're interested
There was something else I was tryign to remember here but its slipped my mind (probably dripped out my ears
W00T!! I would also like to feature 2 new groups!
The newest stock group in town! Devoted to collecting and organizing as much stock as possible from All around DeviantArt! Whether you are a major stock supplier or just starting out - we want you and your stock!!!
And... (drumroll please!)
Started by *creativeguy59, #Realms-Imagination is a learning group for artists or any medium and any talent level, from beginners looking for advice to experts looking for...advice! We're here to help! The group is a little new but eventually you'll be able to look forward to workshops and tutorials as well as monthly Contests with some impressive prizes! Join us and grow!
Speaking of my bad memory (it seems to be working at the moment ^^ ), I must apologize to ~maelinn. I lost my sub before I could complete my promise of a journal feature, so I'm doing it now. I'm really sorry it took so long
As a prize for being a Pick of the Week for the Decliche and Surreal It Challenge four challenges back, ~maelinn requested a journal feature as her prize. Maelinn, here you are

Not many girls appreciate nice guys anymore. And because of this, there are not many left out there. I guarantee 90% of the men on your page will not repost this because they care more about their image.
- If you are a nice guy, repost this in your journal with the title: "Nice guys STILL finish last"
- If you are a girl that thinks every guy should treat a girl this way, repost this in your journal with the title: "To Every Guy".
Have a great day everyone, and once again congratulations ~maelinn on your Pick!!

As for getting rid of the black ring around fire on lighter backgrounds, all you need to do is switch the mode to "lighten", which is what you should be doing to get the best looking fire anyways
I've got all that covered in my tutorial on fire here [link] .
The tutorial is great! You did a great job descrribing how to remove teh black borders and blend it with the scene. What I was thinking of though was a little more direct - I'm actually making the flames transparent by removing the black from all the colours. It's possible to do this in PS but I've lost the tutorial on how...
The transparent flames I can make using Gimp might not be perfect for all scenes, but they might be helpful to someone
That is a great offer - why don't you write more tutorials? You have so much knowledge of techniques in Photoshop and you never know, there may be some blog out there (graphix1 for instance) that would lurrrrrve to publish technique tuts
Lovely art by ~maelinn
Actually I have a few planned - mainly for web coding first, but then hopefully I'll get a few others up and running. Thing is the Removing Backgrounds is easy with Gimp - almost one-click. I've seen how to do it in PS, but I didn't fav the tut so its lost... I think it was a Journal somewhere.
Thing is, most of the things I do I can't make a tutorial for - I use only the simplest of editing tools (copy, paste, smudge, clone...occasionally Dodge/Burn). It more Time than anything. I will try to make a tutorial though - never know
Thanks
