Ever wanted to see a scene in an older videogame recreated? Here's you chance! The DOOM Revisited Contest is for you! Recreate a scene from an older FPS (First-Person Shooter) videogame using stock images and resources from DA.
Your Challenge: Re-Create a scene from the orginal DOOM videogame, or another game over 10 years old, using a screenshot as your base. No monsters, no characters, no people - just the background scene. I'm hoping you can then offer the background as stock as a Premade Background, but that entirely up to you
Here's an example I made last week, based on the opening scene of the first level of DOOM I created using the screenshot as a base then slowlybuilding overtop of it - you don't have to do it this way, but it makes for more precise remakes, which was what I was spcifically aiming for in mine
Contest Start: Tuesday, November 2st 2010
Contest End: Friday, December 3st 2010
Three Skill Levels with 3 Winners in each level!
Beginner - New to photomanipulation and still learning your editing program(s).
Intermediate - Experienced manipulator - still learning but getting better.
Advanced - Experienced manipulator that goes above and beyond the requirements.
-You must choose a scene either from DOOM or from another game that is at least 10 years old. In other words, if it came out in year 2000 or later, you can't use it.
-You may NOT recreate a scene from a Mod (edited version) of the game. It must be the original game. However, you may be as creative as you want in how you recreate the scene.
-You must also upload the screenshot(s) you used to create the scene - partly so we can see the difference, and partly to prove the scene is real. Please also state the name and level of the scene you have recreated, and provide a little information about the game and/or level/scene.
-You must credit all stock images and resources used, with direct link to the stock. Any entry without required credits or with incorrect links will be declined. If you use your own stock, please say so. If redistributing your backgorund as stock, please be sure the stock providers are OK with it beforehand.
-You may NOT include any characters, creatures or people in the scene - it must be a standalone background. Exception: You may include creatures/characters if they are are attached to the background in the game (as in a corpse hanging from the ceiling - nothing alive). You are allowed to make this a little gory, but if you do it must have a mature tag. You may however, if you wish, include player's weapon, or other weapons/power-ups in the scene.
-Please state in the Artist's Comments that your deviations is an entry to the DOOM Revisited Contest at #Realms-Imagination and include the group avatar, :icon realms-imagination: (just without the space)
-Please also state which Skill Level you are entering under (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced). If you write more than one Skill Level I will choose the highest one. If you enter under a lower level when you should clearly be in a high one, I will move it automatically.
-Limit of 3 entries per person (not per account, per person - if you want to make more be my guest, but please choose your best works for the 3)
-6 Month Premium Membership from *da-joint-stock for each of the 1st Place winners
-Journal Feature for all 9 winners by *da-joint-stock
